There’s a particular kind of magic that happens when pears meet a good balsamic in a hot pan. The fruit softens, the balsamic reduces into a glossy, deep-hued glaze, and the whole kitchen starts to smell like fall. This recipe uses just three main ingredients — pears, AOOC Butter Olive Oil, and AOOC Cinnamon Pear Balsamic — to create a topping that’s rich enough to feel indulgent but simple enough for a weekday morning.
No added sugar here. The balsamic already carries natural sweetness, and letting it reduce down concentrates that sweetness into something syrupy and complex, with warm cinnamon and a touch of salt rounding out the flavor. Spoon it over Greek yogurt with a sprinkle of chia seeds, and you’ve got a breakfast bowl that tastes like dessert but starts your day off right.
Caramelized Cinnamon Pear Balsamic Bowl
Ingredients
- 2 ripe but firm pears, peeled and diced
- 2 tbsp AOOC Butter Olive Oil
- 3–4 tbsp AOOC Cinnamon Pear Balsamic
- 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
- Chia seeds, for topping
- Greek yogurt (plain or vanilla), for serving
Instructions
- Heat the butter olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Add the diced pears, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Cook for 3–4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pears begin to soften and pick up a little color.
- Pour in the cinnamon pear balsamic and stir to coat. Let it simmer and reduce into a glossy glaze, about 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally so it doesn’t scorch. The balsamic will thicken and darken as it caramelizes
- Taste and adjust. If it’s too tart for your liking, keep reducing a bit longer to concentrate the sweetness rather than adding sugar.
- Spoon the warm caramelized pears over a bowl of yogurt and top with chia seeds.
